Fry me a river
Monday, Nov 20, 2023
We bring you quick, useful and fun cooking inspiration 3 days a week from places we like from around the web, in 3 minutes or less.
Let’s get to it, clock’s tickin’!
Everyday Recipes
With summer officially behind us I have a couple of eggplants lurking in the fridge and I’m over grilling them. I’m going to try out this Puy Lentils with Aubergine Stew from Yotam Ottelenghi. It’s not a long cooking stew, and looks like a nice way to get some different flavors into the mix here in the fall.
I always like a simplified version of a more complicated recipe and this Chicken and Rapini Stir Fry from the Amateur Gourmet is just that. It’s his take on a more involved recipe from the Myers + Chang At Home Cookbook and is full of shortcuts which makes this an easy weeknight meal without sacrificing flavor.
Project Time
We didn’t include this one in our list of Thankspigging Recipe Favorites (still available with 3 referrals… or just ask us), but I’ve always always wanted to deep fry a turkey and now finally have the space to do it. If my in-laws don’t skip town I’m going to buy the rig and go for it this year. This Deep Fried Turkey from Food and Wine looks like a great place to start. There’s also a great piece on the benefits of frying from Kim Severson in the NYT last week (paywall), which is what got me on this kick in the first place. If anyone else gives this a try let us know!
