Everyday Recipes

  • For some reason I always need to remind myself that chickpeas are a great meal in a can sitting in my cupboard. This recipe for Frizzled Chickpea Salad from Alison Roman is a pretty fast and easy way to get some good flavor and protein into your meal as a main or a hearty side. It’s also super adaptable to fit with whatever else you’ve got going on a given night.

  • I’m a sucker for all things “Hassleback”… maybe it just makes me think of Knight Rider? While the potato version involves some effort all this Hasselback Kielbasa from Ina Garten (yes, big Ina week here) asks of you is a little attention with your knife of choice. I say pick your own vegetables and only do her “brush with mustard and honey” thing if you’re feeling ambitious. It’ll be great either way.

Project Time

  • Last year my kid slept over at a friend’s house and when I asked what they gave him for dinner he said, “uh… I think it was called Beef Wellington.” What! Who are these people? Turns out they were having a dinner party and were happy to squeeze one more kid in, but now I’m going to have them over for dinner and feel like the universe is telling me that it’s finally time for me to make this.

  • On the Beef Wellington theme, apparently Gordon Ramsay’s daughter got him onto TikTok and it’s become a whole thing that’s clearly working for him. Enter this rabbit hole at your own risk…
